Below are the current open voluntary and honorary positions available across our journals (Hikma Journal of Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies & Hikma: Journal of Religion and Theology).

  1. Editor-in-Chief / Co-Editor

Role Overview:

The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) acts as the figurehead of the journal. You will be responsible for the scientific quality of the journal and determining its strategic direction.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Make final decisions on the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
    • Oversee the peer-review process to ensure fairness and timeliness.
    • Develop the journal’s scope and suggest topics for Special Issues.
    • Uphold the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
  • Qualifications:
    • Must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
    • Rank of Associate Professor or higher is preferred.
    • Strong record of publications in international indexed journals.
  1. Editorial Board Member

Role Overview:

Board members are subject matter experts who support the EIC and promote the journal within their academic networks.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide advice on journal policy and scope.
    • Review a minimum of 2–3 manuscripts per year.
    • Encourage colleagues and students to submit high-quality work.
    • Promote the journal at conferences and seminars.
  • Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. degree holder or equivalent research experience.
    • Established academic affiliation.
    • Demonstrated expertise in the specific subject area of the journal.
  1. Reviewer

Role Overview:

Reviewers are the backbone of our quality assurance. This is a vital role for scholars looking to stay updated with the latest research while contributing to the academic community.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate manuscripts for methodology, originality, and clarity.
    • Provide constructive, detailed feedback to authors.
    • Submit review reports within the stipulated timeline (usually 2–3 weeks).
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript.
  • Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree holders with research experience, Ph.D. candidates, or Ph.D. holders.
    • Must have at least one published paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
  1. Editorial Assistant

Role Overview:

This entry-level role is ideal for early-career researchers or students who wish to learn the backend operations of academic publishing.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist in preliminary technical checks (formatting, plagiarism screening).
    • Communicate with authors regarding submission status.
    • Assist in updating the journal website and metadata.
    • Coordinate with reviewers to ensure timely reports.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree (BCA/BA/B.Sc) or currently pursuing a Master’s.
    • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in English.
    • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word.
